Writer’s Guidelines

Types of Submissions

We welcome contributions that bridge practical experience and creative insights to reach a broad audience of hair stylists, salon owners, and beauty enthusiasts. We are interested in the following types of submissions:

• Articles: Case studies, how-to guides, instructional pieces, or submissions focusing on translating innovative techniques into practice.
• Opinion Pieces: Addressing the latest trends, news, or issues in the hair styling industry.
• Interviews: Conversations with leading hair professionals, stylists, and industry experts.
• Reviews: Evaluations of hair products, tools, books, conferences, and tutorial videos. Reviews should present a balanced view, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement.

All submissions must be original content that has not been published elsewhere.

Submission Guidelines

• Format: Submissions should be uploaded as a Word document.
• Title and Abstract: Include a suggested headline or title and an abstract that succinctly summarizes the submission.
• Images: Authors are encouraged to include images. Ensure you have permission to use any images from outside sources. High-resolution images should be sent separately as .jpg, .tif, or .gif files once the submission is accepted.
• Citations: If references are included, they must be formatted according to our citation style.
• Further Reading: You may include a list of links to additional resources or reading materials.

Submission Criteria

• Contextualization: Help the audience understand the issue and its implications, building upon previous work in the field.
• Perspectives: Provide different or opposing viewpoints on an issue, presenting all sides of the argument in depth.
• Clarity: Write in a clear style, avoiding jargon. Use sub-headings to indicate new sections and break up the text flow.
• Length:
  • Articles: up to 3,000 words.
  • Opinion pieces: 500-800 words.
  • Interviews: 750-1,200 words.
  • Reviews: 750-1,200 words.

Editorial Process

All contributed articles will be edited according to our editorial process:

1. Initial Review: If the submission is within the scope of our website, it will be considered for review.
2. Review Outcomes: Possible outcomes include reject, revise and resubmit, accept, accept with minor revisions, or accept with major revisions.
3. Revisions: If revisions are requested, a new deadline will be established.
4. Final Review: Upon resubmission, the editors will review, edit, and assign a tentative publication date.
5. Copyright: Authors are required to sign a copyright release form. Details of the copyright agreement are available upon request.
